if you only use one email address, then i'm afraid you'll only be able to post with one name, whether that name be katie, flett or 'katie & flett'.
of course you can both register separately, using different email addresses, but the single/couple posters angle is not something i had considered to be honest.
i suppose allowing people to register once as an individual and again as a couple could turn out to be the exception that proves the rule, with regard to not allowing more than one active profile per member: registering a profile called 'katie' and another called 'katie and flett' isn't to have two distinct identies so much, as one and half!
on the face of it, i would say that it's probably acceptable for couples to register both singly and as part of a twosome but i'll consult the oracle and confirm things one way or t'other, asap (although, even as i type this, i can see some clever dick coming on here claiming to be a mormon with seven wives, hollering that it's their inalienable right to sign-up in every conceivable combination and that to prevent them from doing so would be an act of religious intolerance, etc).

Re: ** BGAFD FORUMS (long version) **
yes it is possible to explain and, funnily enough, if you read the post that your post is attached to, you will find that explanation.
our position on privacy will defined in the faq update, when registration is launched. it won't be very long though. probably not much longer than, "bgafd will not use your email address for any purpose other than to send you your forum password. bgafd will not pass on your email address to any third party, for any reason, EVER."
as for it being a retrograde step, i think you'll find that some of the most successful boards to be found have membership policies in place. in the end, whether a forum thrives, or not, comes down to the relationship between the site concerned and the people who use it. yes, some people will be deterred from registering, for whatever reasons, but others may actually prefer a more secure environment. there is an element of swings and roundabouts but ultimately the decision to go down this route is a pragmatic one.

Re: ** BGAFD FORUMS (long version) **
Just another thought, guys. One of the attractive features of the forum, at least for this forumite, is that every once in a while Wendy, Layla-J, Angel, Sandie, Libby, Marie-Louise, Alicia, Super Mario, Ben etc will drop in on a topic they're interested in, make some (usually) very interesting/appropriate comments, and then go off, not to be heard of for some time. This is perhaps what ds refers to as "casual visitors".
Won't having to go through registration deter such infrequent industry visitors?

I suppose wether they will be deterred or not will depend on whether they are selling something on here or not. So perhaps the big established names might not register as readily as those just starting out in the biz. The
Its always nice when people from the industry join in discussions on here and even better when its obvious they are not doing it to promote a product but just joining in a discussion with the people who pay their wages ie the fans. Not that theres anything wrong with promotion btw. I am just saying that people like Uncle Ben who dont need to promote product might not bother registering unless of course they really enjoy the conversation here like our friends Marcus and Dibble obviously do.
I think registration is a good thing if it keeps out the trolls but it will be a shame if we no longer get posts from interesting people like Ben Dover and others. Even the notorious Officer Dibble never fails to liven the debate up with his hilarious posts so lets hope he and his cohorts are not deterred from posting.
I am now trying to decide wether to keep the name Magoo or not. It was never meant to be a permanent name and is a bit crap but it sort of stuck. Trouble is I have been posting here so long if I change my name people will still keep asking "where did mr magoo go?"

But forums should be based on the topics of conversation not who's posting IMO
As Woodgnome recently said regular posters come and go
though they and their knowledgable contributions will be sadly missed there will always be people to take up the slack
No one individual is bigger than the forum
For every poster I'm sure there are many lurkers who are just as informed
but choose to keep to the shadows for whatever reason
As for people asking where are you I'm sure once you do your first POO post under your new handle they will know Magoo has been reborn
Then theres the fact you'll have your own profile page
cheers

Re: ** BGAFD FORUMS (long version) **
Well, that's a fair point, but I don't think registration will deter industry bods from contributing. A valid email addy doesn't have to be one that is active - most ISPs allow you to have more than one addy, valid yes, but not necessarily active.
I can't say that I like the idea of registration, as the mutual trust that most, if not all, forumites exhibit by posting without anyform of 'official' record will be lost. However, we have all had the big wind up from trolls, and it's difficult not to rise to them sometimes, especially on an outstandingly friendly forum such as this - a permanent keyboard shortcut with me since the day I discovered it - so registration was bound to happen sooner or later. From what Woody writes, it's the only viable way to continue things as they are - nobody gets paid for being a mod. here, remember.

Re: ** BGAFD FORUMS (long version) **
I am surprised that there wasn't a registration process already in place to be honest. Pretty much every other forum I visit requires registration.
With regards to industry. Could I suggest another forum as an industry forum, for employment, contacts, advice etc, separating these posts from general British porn/fan posts?

Re: ** BGAFD FORUMS (long version) **
How many boards to you use, eC? As someone who has to use dozens, never mind the ones I choose to use too, having passwords for them all is an utter utter pain.
As for "funnily enough, if you read the post that your post is attached to, you will find that explanation." I worded it badly. I meant: "How will registration achieve the aims that you stated?", given the ease of setting up hotmail etc accounts.
