Model release, is it required?

The main thing is to get one ID which is Government Issue Photo ID, so basically a passport or driving licence. The you need something else official showing name, address, D-O-B. Ideally passport and driving licence or birth certificate.

No, don't pay her until she produces the correct documentation. But still take the shots rather than pay for make-up etc a second time. If she wants paying she must bring the correct tools of the trade.

That Davey said he spoke to a girl who only had a passport for ID but no Birth Certificate which was a little untruth because as I said you need a BC to get a P'port

Most likely her birth certificate is somewhere at her parents house, and she doesn't want to explain why she needs it.

Point taken but if that is the case she can always get a new from the Register Office.

A passport is accepted as proof of ID when you open a bank account.

Surely it's the best ID of all?!

A birth certificate means nothing, it could be anybody's.

A driving licence would only be as good if it's the new photo version.

So what is the position on the various shoots where a number of (presumably unpaid - or possibly even paying) guys turn up for a party with a girl or girls which is then shot for the girls' (or someone elses's) website and then published - sometimes not merely restricted to said site ?

Admittedly the guys (presumably) know that part of the deal is that this may happen but, I presume they don't sign releases ? Does anybody take proof of age ?

I accept that faces and distinguishing marks are probably not shown - does this mean that no release is necessary if the owner of the body parts cannot be identified - or if at any rate it is difficult to do so?

Never tried it for any of my shoots but it's an interesting idea!

There will be some people who will buy anything without releases, especially for the website market, but these will be few and far between.

At some point, you may be asked to prove the legality of your product by someone who has the ability to imprison you, better to do it before, than trying to track down two dozen individuals 3 years after the shoot took place.
