I think porn will gradually become more mainstream, but then lose
its interest because it will be freely available.
What makes porn attractive in the UK is the difficulty of getting it
(what you cannot have you want more of).
In some countries (like Denmark) porn is more mainstream and
has less of a taboo.
I was in Denmark a few years ago, and went into a 'normal' video
rental shop (like say a blockbusters).
As well as all the mainstream films, and childrens films, they had an
adult section, with non-censored porn films.
There were a number of people in the shop, but nobody but me
was in the porn section. Because porn had been available for years
over there it was no big deal to have it available in a video rental
shop.
Although the delivery route will be via the internet and TV, I think
it will go that way in the UK and the novelty will soon wear off (but
it will never go away of course).

What makes porn attractive, in ANY country, is that it has lots of nekkid girls getting rogered, surely? The point has been well-made before that the majority of porn buyers are one-offs- and thus there will always be a market.

I doubt they'd stock it if it weren't profitable- perhaps porn-renters only come out after dark?

I agree with Guilbert about porn being forbidden fruit as it gets more widespread the appeal will start to vanish amongst its followers, when i first started years ago porn couldn't be bought in the high street & selling from mags etc was good. Then came the internet so we all had to change again, after this shops started to sell R18 which mucked up most of the amateur stars sales & forced them to go Pro or get out , now with satelitte having ideas that they might be allowed to show R18 will cripple us even more because who will go into the shops to buy films then. I reckon within 5 years we'll be back to advertising in mags as people will always want what they can't have, the best years have gone for British film makers.

firstly i have to say kim... i watched ur essex gang bang last night and it was brilliant. great story line and well executed.
are u sure Private werent working with u on this and attempting to make amateur porn cos everything was "perfectly" amateur. Thats a compliment btw.
anyway...sex is in our human nature. how can people stop wanting to get off all of a sudden. As our lives get more intense and complicated we look for more ways to unwind and relax - porn will survive.
legally things are progressing in this country but very slowly. Id rather have regulations in place to protect people than otherwise. Even tho I do seem to spend alot of time lately screaming at the BBFC about stupid things we cant include in our films.
Once we can prove ourselves as a responsible industry in this country we may see some more changes.

I have to agree with Sandie (well I don't 'have too' but I do!). As the world gets more and more stressful sex is the one thing they can't take away from us. I do think that we will get slightly desensitised and need more extreme stuff.
I think you are right, a sensibly regulated system is the way to go, unfortunately the state is probably 5 - 10 years behind public opinion when it comes to what people want to watch or are happy to be available.....
