sandie - a voice of reason
well said
i have no problem with enhancement, except some are stupidly large, and some lookstupidly unreal. both are NOT an inproovement.
alyssa jenkins are a good example, and with hardly visible scars and a very natrual look. girls take note. maybe find who her surgeon was, if you must do it.

I have little to add to what JJ has said, Autumn. While I have been overly critical in the past about implants (and other "enhancements"), I wasn't this time. The point was made that it is each person's right to decide what they want to do with their own body. As JJ said, the thread wasn't deleted, which suggests that none of those who took part in it were being insulting to anyone; if anything there was more a sense of sadness and bewilderment at the reasons why a beautiful model with a perfect figure should feel she has to "improve" upon what she's already got. As far as I can recall (and that's not far, I am old after all), no one called anyone ugly.
I did speak to one model who had implants and she gave good, sound, reasoned arguments for having it done, and basically said sod it to anyone who didn't like them because she did. That was fine, she'd researched it, didn't go for anything ridiculous and was happy in herself for having done it. No pressure, her choice, fine.
The problem we were discussing was models who feel they "have" to get it done: to get work; because everyone else is; because when they look in the mirror they don't see what everyone else does.
I find it strange that it's taken a week for that initial thread to be criticised. For a while, it seemed like it was going to be an old codgers' debate, until Sandie joined in. But certainly there were no cried of outrage at the time.
If you, or anyone else, think what I said was insulting or rude, then I apologise. There is no way I would purposely get involved in a slagging attack on a model---especially one that has posted here and would be likely to see it. There has been some nastiness here, probably before your time on the site, Autumn, though very little since the blessed registration system. The reason so many of us visit this site is because we are interested in the main topic----the girls. We're not here to criticise so much as to give thanks daily at the altar of our idols.
I will now return to the pariahs' forum where I belong.

Some lucid input, as usual, from Chanta, a few aeons ago when this topic was being discussed:

As I started it I think I ought to comment, now that I've seen this.
Autumn, I'm sorry if you think this was slagging anyone off but I think you totally missed the point about how upset it makes me to see girls doing this. Yes, they have every right to do what they want, but that does not mean we cannot care about them and be concerned for their welbeing. If you see someone doing something to themselves you think is harmful you SHOULD speak out.
And as for naming them on a public forum... I was under the impression this was an industry forum where we could discuss girls in the industry and things which effect that industry, and as these girls all perform in this industry, how is it not already common knowledge to anyone who sees them? This isn't a private matter that no one knows about, it is on public display!
To be honest I vaguely hoped that someone who'd had it done would say something to change my mind about it, though no one has.
But a point which I am very strong on is that in my experience, having lost HALF of my membership following my model's operation, the end consumers that I deal with do not want to see it any more than I do. If my model turned up for a shoot with two black eyes she would naturally expect to lose the job. Having turned up with two fake breasts she has now lost all the work she has been getting from me. But I still care about her and what happens to her.
I'm sorry if anyone has been upset by any of this, or if anyone believes they have been slagged off, but I can assure everyone that this is something I CARE very deeply about, and I am very concerned if anyone suggests we cannot discuss an issue as important as this.

people can complain about whatever they want, as long as they do so in a manner that complies with the faq.
in this instance, the paragraph quoted above explains exactly why this thread has remained up: in short, it abides by the faq.

.......and it once more becomes immediately topical in the light of this morning's tragic news about the wife and mother who died as a result of complications following an abdomenectomy ('tummy-tuck'): this, like any 'cosmetic' surgery, is hazardous to varying degrees, and hence not to be undergone lightly.

I take it then, Autumn, that you would also object to someone saying how pretty or hot a girl was then? It is the same thing (IE an opinion from an individual on the "looks" of a person). What you seem to be objecting to is an honest reaction to an important aspect of your "business". If your job involves (amongst other things) parading your naked body for the purposes of titillation (sp?) then you must expect an honest critique, regardless of how positive it is.
Saying "so-and-so's implants look disgusting" is just as valid an opinion as saying "wow - you're implants look great". If you show them to the world with a sub-text of "look at me - aren't I great?" (which, lets be honest, is a large aspect of what porn stars have to do) then you have to expect that a proportion will shout back "oh no you're not".
What you are saying is the same as saying "people on Pop Idol shouldn't have their voice criticised" or "people who want to be models shouldn't be criticised for their appearance". If you don't like the answers, don't pose the questions.

Sounds reasonable to me- with the caveat that, since some of the girls DO visit here and are humans with the usual feelings, any criticism should be hopefully constructive, and politely-couched.
Which point has already been made, severalfold...........
