Always best to produce your own and work with other producers so it is all in house. It works for yourself and the customers get their goods on time.

ummmmm yeah.......... Not sure what that comment is meant to be saying Riley! I dont want to produce my own content (although if u are recommending that I start my own production company then Im sure Marino will be well impressed lol) - I just want to buy everyone elses products and sell them on like any business but its liking pulling teeth at the minute!

Jay, in my defence my operation (Devlin Media) is to big and understaffed and to many things going on, and there was a show at the weekend I only unloaded my trailer last night. I won't make any poor excuses just to busy so I had to put priority on stuff. Your request for 2 or 3 of a title at trade prices does not make me dump everything else and run (maybe it should).
I think the problem may lie in the opposite. To many shops ordering 1 of each instead of a few big shops like "Simply & Your" ordering 25-50-100 of each surely it benifits everyone thats why HMV are there and the local record store is bust. I know you want to get there beside them but it's not easy if it was every idiot would have a shop. The barriers are there to sort out the men from the boys. Try to look from the other side and you will understand more. I have not even had enough time to send Dibble the new releases and I have 1000 of each on my floor with another 1000 arriving on spool tomorrow and 500 to Scotland on direct delivery to please a customer.

just to further re inforce my point, we havent even talked about prices and products yet let alone placed any orders so there is no way I could have been referring to you.
The points you make in your post are very valid which is exactly why I have been up front with everyone I have contacted about quantities etc so as not to waste anyones time but we all have to start somewhere. However 3 x 20 titles is 60 pieces, not massive but not peanuts either. My business model is very different to the companies you mention - they buy product cheaper than I ever will be able to due to quantity breaks yet they sell "Ben Dovers Cumming of Age 2" for ?22 and ?29.50 whereas my price is ?16 so due to the price differences I "hope" to be able to move to selling large quantities quite quickly.
I have never expected anyone to dump everything and run for me and while I know its not easy (and isnt going to be) I did, rather naively, think that spending money and getting product would be the easy bit and the hard part would be selling it. I doubt I am ever going to be anyones biggest customer but, at the same time, I do expect to receive a level of service which none the previous two companies (again, not yours) have not given me.
Anyway, if you prefer not to do business direct due to the small quantities and lack of resources and you can tell me the name of a distributor who stocks your product then I will go through them.

Yeah business changes. Still more customers is more customers, even if they only want one or two items at a time.
Can't you hire a couple of underpaid, 18 year old, gimps to do some of the packing?
That seems to be what happens most of the time and would explain the condition of some the things I've ordered by post/courier (NOT from Devlin Media!).

Hmmm well after having such interesting and challenging experiences with some of the distributors I have dealt with in the last week this afternoon I contacted a large UK producer directly to buy some of his products (again quite a small order, about 50 pieces).
So I called him up, had a quick chat about nothing and then told him what I was after and he was fine with the size of the order etc (despite it not being the biggest he will ever get!).
The interesting bit came when I asked him about payment and offered to pay using a CC as I needed them shipping tomorrow for delivery Friday at latest. He said he couldnt take card payments and could only do cheque or bank transfer which was gonna cause me major grief but when I explained my predicament about needing the DVDs ASAP for Mondays launch he offered to send me the DVDs BEFORE my cheque clears which I have to say was totally unexpected and very decent and trusting of him.
It was great to find someone who made me feel as tho he wanted and valued my business and it was a VERY welcome and refreshing change after the crap I have been through the last few days
Anyway just thought I would post a good story after having had a go earlier - its only fair that we acknowledge good service as much as we slate poor service.
