Good point Terry, a few 'porn stars' have crossed the divide in the States into mainstream TV and Film. Here as far as I am aware it has never happened. Why I here you ask - well because the business here is shunned by the 'proper' film and television world as being worthless scum !

Performers in America have an ability to learn lines and act probably because they have a big film industry there and many would prefer to be doing that anyway. Here I cannot think of one girl ever who could learn lines or act to any exceptable level. Don't get me wrong, I am not blaming the girls. It's just not a natural thing for them to do. Where as in the States it seems it is.

I know this through my own experiences as well of trying in vain to get 'normal' TV and/or Film camera work. It seems nearly 30 years working with stills or video camera's counts for diddlysquat in the mainstream ! The simple fact that I can do the job is meaningless ! The flip side of this is these know all Sky/BBC guys that come onto porn set's occasionally and try and shoot porn and make themselves look idiots every time because they don't know what they are doing. I worked with one this year and he was sacked by the producer. I've worked with 3 of these so called experts in my 30 years and not one of them has produced anything of much use. UK 'potentials' want to be pornstars but don't realize that sluts sell!
See the way that the US girls get treated by the guys of BROBANG for example.
Imagine even some of the self-styled stars of UK porn being asked to be treated like that on camera and they'd look at you like you were nuts.
Basically some stuff sells better than others and if you want to be in business you try to aim for the largest market surely.

The girls I have noticed suddenly disappearing from the UK scene (some have been mentioned in this and the other thread) have terminated their career just about the same time that they started looking like pornstars as opposed to nude models. The minute a girl gets DP'ed she has to deal with the fact that she's doing porn not glamour and the society we live in in the UK simply does not allow a woman any dignity after that... Sure they'll wank over her in private but nobody will support her in public.

If pornstars were afforded some rights to open forum and some basic dignity when not at work then things might be different... but once you've done a bukkake you have no right to even defend yourself unless you retire and blame the evil industry and drug abuse for your errors.#

There are many reasons why the US porn industry is the way it is and its high turn over of pretty girls and veried gene pools is due to those fresh off the bus looking for fame and fortune in Hollywood until the allure of making money from porn beckons.

Probably explains why more of them can string a sentence or two together convincingly because most wanted to do that in the first place.

It was seeing the success stories that led to girls like Sasha Grey making a concerted effort to bypass the glitter of Hollywood to go straight into the thick of the porn industry of which Im sure is ho wit is these days.

Then there are htose who do porn to earn premium feature dancing like Jenna Haze.

Put it all in one area of the San Fernando Valley and bam...thats the industry right there.

I was going to put up another post asking whether or not many brit porn girls could ever be proper actresses but i'd already guessed for most the answer would be no, how often have i watched a brit scene and most cannot say a few words convincingly and its a wonder it can pass as a take. I've noticed in the American scenes where it takes a while to build up the actresses suggest in some cases they could do real acting. Angel Long has done a few of these scenes for likes of brazzers and i thought she was pretty good with the dialogue parts.
