Exactly. A company paid models and staff to shoot the content. They paid to edit and replicate it to DVD. They paid the government. They paid a distributor to ship it to stores. You bought it at a store. You paid a store owner who pays rent to his landlord and payroll to his staff and taxes to the government. And these useless leeches living in their mothers' basements want you to put it on some infringement hangout on the web so they can download it or stream it free without doing a damned thing that's productive.

that's not even what i consider the worst - that particular post was because i knew the girl who that dvd was centred around had a lot of fans on that forum and i genuinely (stupidly) believed they might like to nip out and get a near three hour dvd of her.

However, i also posted on the same forum when i knew that a chain of shops were having a sale of dvd's for ?5 each and got the standard, "why buy when it's free" nonsense and you can find it online cheaper (than a fiver, really, don't think so) etc.

The ironic thing is it was the pirates that made us known all over the UK when we couldn't afford advertising years back & it will be the pirates that finish us...strange world we live in.

pirates

I think everyone bought pirated vhs and later dvd's before legalisation and when the only choice was one shop chain who few people had a good word to say about. it's a pain in the arse if you know that a dvd exists but hasn't been certified meaning that unless you want to order it through the post online you can't get at it legally but the major retailers all have upwards of 3000 titles in stock at any time so it's not like you don't get a choice which i always thought was a problem with the carboot etc sellers. They might have 50 or so titles but there would be a hell of a lot of crap in there and in my experience they tended towards the more extreme material.

We used to give out certain tapes e.g.with trailers & an hour of film to known pirates which had our phone number at the bottom of the screen knowing they would be mass copied, when people saw these films our phone never stopped ringing with orders.
Then the internet came & ruined the industry as where once the pirate copied some films the internet opened it up for customers to share, sell etc so we had both to contend with.
Once big networks were in place any film could be copied hence the shit we are in now, if porn was made illegal on the internet in "all countries" we would see a steady rise in sales in the shops again but as that will never happen we have to make the most of a bad situation.

But that would hit the legal download sites as well. Although i'm not a fan of downloading, i've only been a member of reality kings, it seems unfair on those companies that not only want to go down that route but don't offer dvd's and provide employment for performers. You'd also be at the mercy of the bbfc etc who would be tempted to pull the plug on r18 knowing that porn had gone off the internet - the daily mail would surely come up with an headline along the lines of 'now rid our high streets of this filth'

I was only joking about the stopping porn on the internet as that would never happen but it shows how far down the toilet pan we have sunk since the internet started, sometimes progress is not always the best thing lol!

We noticed more shops do under the counter films compared to a few years back so maybe porn will go more underground so it can compete with the harsh UK restrictions...early days yet.
