Ode to America
Re: Ode to America
there were 67 british victims of the twin towers atrocity.
a u.s. marine helicopter crashed in northern kuwait yesterday, killing 8 british soldiers, as well as 4 of their american comrades - this pre-emptive "war" is an alliance in which britain is substantial player.

Re: Ode to America
Forgive me, but it seems like there is anti American sentiment on this board from time to time and it bothers me.
It's that simple.
My own opinion of Bush is that he has big balls to do what he said he was going to do. Basically he said that terrorists will be hunted down and pay for fucking with innocent peoples of all nationalities. (Not his words)
And he is doing what he said he would do. Much to the dismay of people who have short memories about the killing that cowardly terrorists commit every day and look for more to kill.
Sorry if i insult you.

Re: Ode to America
i am pro-british and pro-american - indeed, many of my favourite things in life are american - but i am against this war. pre-emption has not even come close to being justified by the available evidence.
and one other minor detail - saddam didn't bring down the twin towers, osama bin laden and his fanatics did that. bin laden loathes and detests saddam because he is a heathen and a secularist, albeit of the fascistic variety. there is absolutely no proven connection between these two men.

Re: Ode to America
God bless those British soldiers and the families as well as the U.S. troops that lost their lives.
Re: Ode to America
yes, there is anti-american sentiment expressed by some posters and i don't like it, either. the fact is, america is a safe target for negative sentiments because no one is likely to accuse you of being predjudiced or bigoted for doing so. it pretty much goes with the territory when you are far and away the most dominant political/cultural/economic/social power on the face of the planet.
by and large, it's pretty low grade stuff and anything genuinely offensive would certainly be removed. i'd worry more about what bush is doing to the economy.

Re: Ode to America
No proven connection that we have been told! If our Govs told us all they know, then we would have zero intelligence. And England and the U.S. have some of the best intelligence in the world.
You do know about the 707 fuselage that Saddam had that trained terrorists to hijack planes?
If you don't know, this is fact. I think that Blair and Bush know that Saddam was involved somehow.

Re: Ode to America
when one of blair's most trusted and resolute ministers resigns - robin cook - and in his resignation speech states that there is no substative reason for this course of action, then i'm inclined to believe that there is no hidden intelligence to be revealed. if there was a smoking gun, chirac and schroeder would be singing from a different hymn sheet by now.
