Re: The fight continues.
Tony Blair is extremely liberal when compared to the American Far Right.
I don't think even Blair really realises the long term consequences of having supported Bush in the war and the effect it will have in bolstering the Right wing agenda in the US. It seems one prediction made in the article I posted above (04-13-03 16:26) appears to be coming true with all the teeth baring being directed at Syria.

My $0.02
Personally I'm not too fussed that EA has run into some difficulty over these product lines. I would defend the right of consenting (though that's a little ambiguous and 'consent' isn't quite as black and white as the militant liberals would have us believe) adults to pursue whatever they see fit, and the right of adults to view and enjoy such material as they see fit, providing no causal link is established between behaviour that harms the liberty of others and the material in question.
But if people make rape and abuse fantasies then get into trouble for it, I just sit back and wonder what the hell they expected. As much as we want to live in our little idealised fantasy worlds of tolerance and freedom, let's wake up shall we? EA has what's coming for them, and so do all the other 'pornographers' who make this stuff. Like I say, they can do what they like, but I object to being asked to contribute to some legal fund to help them out. These Einsteins should have seen this coming. Particularly after Mr. Black's little child-like 'come and get me' rant.
I don't classify this as pornography at all, but can see why it falls under the banner. I suspect that it caters for people with dubious interests who ought to seek some other way of dealing with their enjoyment of seeing people 'abused' and 'raped' instead of having it fed by people who lack the creative vision to produce anything that would appeal to a wider audience. Does there come a point where what consenting adults do that harms no one else conflict with the direction society should be going in? No. Because there is no particular direction society 'should' be going and much less anyone who has a better idea then anyone else what we should all be doing.
But that doesn't mean I'll support this kind of tripe or preach on about how their right to do what they like is being limited. If there is any kind of fight I'd like to win, it's the fight to legitimise pornography as well as just legalise it so that its place as a valuable commodity is well established and recognised. I'd say thats a fight far more worthy of my time and energy then saving some two-bit company making sub-standard porn.

Re: The fight continues.
Ah,.. yes. I wondered if anyone would pull me up about that.
The reason this is happening is that there is a bug in the browser I am using to post the ? mark rich posts. It's the new 'Safari' browser from Apple which is very nice and on the whole works well, but it's still the free beta version I'm using - the development version that hasn?t had all the bugs ironed out yet. I try and remember to switch back to 'Explorer' when posting anything significant, but occasionally, as in the instance you pulled me up about, I forget.
Sorry.
