All I can recall of drinking said stuff was that my s***e turned black. On the whole, I'd have preferred the hallucinations.

magoo - I have done some research on the said brew.
There is nothing in the making process that includes a plant, unless it's a secret.
Sorry about the anagrams it was the only interesting thing I found during my research.
Continue enjoying your ale.

It's too sweet, strictly for kids, the Alcopop of its day.
When there, drink 80 shillings or better still, Fed.

Re: Nukey Brown Ale
My Mrs did 6 weeks training at St. Nicks in Newcastle - as did every other nurse in her RGN class. There IS a ward in that hospital that is colloquially named the 'Newcy Broon' ward but it contains the devotees of alcohol in general and NOT 'Broon' specifically.
In short - it's the victims of alcohol ward and not any particular brew or brand.
I'm fully aware of the legends and why they crop up regularly - my father loved this particularly hideous concoction and was a violent lunatic, but he was that way (according to family who grew up with him) way before he ever encountered Newcastle Brown Ale.
Grow up people - drink doesn't make people monsters, it only releases the monster that is already there, hiding below the surface.
You shouldn't assume that I'm anti-alcohol - I aint, in fact I'm considered a heavy drinker by all that know me (especially my GP) I'm just trying to interject a modicum of reality into this discussion. I've heard/read similar claims about absinthe - the truth is that only people with the rare condition of temporal lobe epilepsy are at ANY risk of adverse reaction to this drink, other than the usual drunkenness & hangover.

I had a 'Moment' there, I saw JJ and Magoo in the thread, I was just about to 'cunt' them off, when I realised I had gone into a Tardis and fucked off back to 2005, I blame Hexy.
