Don't know about most memorable, but one of the cruelest was watching the live coverage on the box of Jean van de Velde with his three shot cushion playing the last at Carnoustie and monumentally screwing up, taking off his socks and shoes to go into the burn. It was so cruel the Beeb stopped showing close-ups of his wife looking nervous.
Also cruel, and very funny, was some special/junior Olympics type event they held in Sheffield about ten years ago where they got astronaut Helen Sharman to run with the torch around the track. She stumbled, fell over, and the torch went out.

Tyson beating Berbick to become youngest heavyweight champ is one of MY faves, Chelsea winning FA Cup in 97 and England beating Germany 5-1 are great football moments. Tragic that I saw Ayrton Senna killed and Gerald McClelland brain damaged in the most brutal boxing match against Nigel Benn Iv'e ever seen, and as Im an avid boxing fan, I have seen some brutal fights.

My favorite would be seeing my local non-league side knock Coventry City (the cup holders) out of the FA Cup in 1989.
Others would be England winning the Ashes against Australia after coming back from being behind at Headlingly.
England beating Holland 3-1 in Euro 2000. Think it's the first time I've ever seen England outplay Holland, & of course beating Germany 5-1 in that famous World Cup quailfier.
Steve Redgrave winning his 5th Gold Medal in Sydney.
But I also have many moments from all the Olympic's, World Cups etc that would take for ever too list.

Wasn't that Sutton Utd? They've been knocking around 4th to 6th in the Ryman(?) for a few years now. I see Enfield got relegated. They must have been one of the faves to gain promotion when Conference to 3rd came in and now look at them. If it isn't Sutton , who is it

As an avid sports fan, I've seen some great stuff over the (long) years, but I have to say that Paula Radcliffe is definately SOMETHING ELSE. In her early days, with the nodding head and unconventional style, she was slated a bit.
What now, brown cow.

You are right Goater. Sutton used to be quite a giant killing team in the late 80's early 90's. Ain't shown that sort of form for years now, guess they were really lucky to have some good players around at the same time. After they beat Coventry I went to see them play Norwich, got hammered 8-0 just goes to show.
They have really struggled over the last few years.
Mind you most of my local teams have had there moment of fame.
Wimbledon of course. It's a shame what's happened to them. But ever since Stan Haman pulled out they ain't had the money to compete with the big boys.
Others are Tooting & Mitcham (they just played a charity game against some Chelsea old boys Ray Wilkins, Clive Allen etc)
Leatherhead & Carshalton A having their moments of glory in cup runs.
I love it when the small clubs take on the big boys & give them a run for their money.

Paula is something and not just in the Athletics sense. Any chance of you hiring her for some truly perverted sex?

Actually, this would have been in 1988, as CCFC won it in '87. A GREAT upset though!!
