Jack..the curse of the mobile...

Two things,I called a plumber (on land line)to fix my hot water boiler-his bl.......mobile was ringing all the time-so the job took twice or three times as long...he needed a secretary to come with him.

...and as for Models with mobile phones,Jack,it was either them I threw out of the door,or the mobile phone...they are a menace to a working photographer with the constant ringing..."Shut that bl......thing OFF!"
One of my Pro friends has a notice on his door "Don't enter here with your mobile phone-TURN IT OFF"

If you need to ring anyone, stand outside along with the 'ciggie' clan.

A lot of people,Jack, are VERY anti mobiles-but as you say,in the right place, they are a boom to society...a great invention.

...but been highjacked by the teen fraternity all glued to the text screen up and down High Streets and on public transport-mark you it keeps them quiet!...now then, that really is a good invention,is'nt it!

'No, everybody was sat in an office or at home taking calls.'

err..... they still are, because office and home is where they need to be physically. And that park would get awfully over-crowded if we all sat in it, wouldn't it. As for the crack about plumbers, I seem to recall them doing very sweetly indeed in the 'old days', as other forumites would doubtlessly agree. Dealt with one recently, have you? Contact is one thing. Getting the job done another.

Sorry, must dash. An elderly relative has just expired crawling to the landline in the hall. If only I'd visited more often....

What a great advert for British business you are! Please, tell us the name of the shops you run! If we weren't getting ripped off in the first place we wouldn't have to "barter"! As with home and car buying In this country people have to "fight" to get a good deal! Your attitude towards YOUR customers Is disgusting and appalling and sum up perfectly "rip off Britain"!

I understand your ire, Jizabell, but only those with the nous and nerve could ever benefit from your idealised bartering, meaning those without said skills could be easily ripped-off by comparison. In consumerist terms, a fixed price is a form of equality.
