A wooden Bond, maybe; but a top notch villain, fantastic leading lady, the wonderful John Barry soundtrack with a Louis Armstrong sung ending, and a whole whack of action sequences. If that doesn't make up for Lazenby, I don't know what could (oh, and I'm pretty sure George Baker dubs his voice when he's playing "Sir Hilary").

The Boom started with ' Five Fingers Of Death ' ( Lo Leith and funny enough Bolo in a small part) Double billed at the cinema with Superfly i think ,its boom was on the back of the whole Blackexploitation thing ,and so Willams gets the best lines in ' Enter the Dragon ' I love the Samo fight at the start of enter the Dragon , i just wish there was more of Bruce.
Wire 90's films can be good check out Jet Li in the Fist's of Fury remake.
So what your style ?
and what's your best old school movie ?

My style?
The art of fidin' widout fidin'
Fist Of Legend was turd meat! Are you nuts!
As for the Blaxploitation in martial arts, that boomed more way after Enter.
Black Belt Jones; Cleopatra Jones; etc etc
Hence Jim Kelly being billed as the next best thing! He was Ron Van Cleefs student, and Ron also went on to do some crap films.
Ron's best student to do the film thing was Taimak Gureillo who was in The Last Dragon but he only ever made 2 films.
I wasn't into the blaxplotation films and I certainly don't care for old schooll or wire work shit.
I grew up watching the old school just hoping for a renaisance.
I'd pick Snake in the Eagle's Shadow as one of the finest films.
Also have to give total repsect to Prodigal Son. Yuen Biao is one of the most under-rated stars ever.
Ever see him doa moonsualt off of the building in Shanghai Express??? Without wires!!!
Stunning.
Of the new breed, I totally rate Marc Dacascos. One of the finest all rounders going. Had the pleasure of meeting him some time back and this guy is the real deal. He also did the tournament circuit.
Also have to rate our very own Gary Daniels who I knew from years back. Real nice guy who has done very well for himself. Also did the circuits!
But I really do hate wire work. It's a joke.
Romeo must Die was vile for it's shit wire work. Jet Li changing angle whilst stationary in mid air....yeah right.
Make it believable.
Also have to rate Keith Cooke who is one of the fastest kickers out there and also the Rhee brothers from the Best of the Best films.
Simon Rhee did triple kicks before they had a name! As did Keith Cooke. Check him out in the China O'Brien films and also King of the Kickboxers.
Total bootmaster.
All that should give a clue about my base style at least!

When I saw 'Die Hard' at the flicks on first release I commented that it was everything that the (at that time) latest Bond movie lacked. Sheer, outrageous, unbelievable action with enough gore and pain to make it seem realistic.
In the suppliments, each film has a side-bar 'the influence' to justify the choice, and some of them were pretty thin IMHO.
Kong is indeed King! Harryhausen was a genius.
Man, you come right out of a comic book!!

Sorry Holden I wasn't talking about Blaxploitation from a Martial point of view Superfly (1972) was played with Five Fingers of Death aka KingBoxer and this was the first time a kung Fu film exploded on our screens !
and lead to Bruce making Enter the Dragon.
As for Marc Dacascos he's no Bronson Lee mate , a good real Martial artist but how do you explain his part in Doogie Howser MD !!!!
and Crying Freeman was Pants of the girlyest /bigest and smelliest kind !
I totally agree with you on the Romeo must Die point very very bad shit .
As is for all that American Kickboxer stuff Delta Force and Fist of the North Star blah blah blah !!
Bin it America does not make good Martial Arts films , i bet you have a soft spot for old Chuck don't you ? come on you must be pulling my leg with Gary Daniels !!!
Snake in the Eagle's Shadow and Prodigal Son are Amazing top 5 film stuff
also Warrior's Two and 7 Grandmasters but the real way of the Warrior has never been filmed as well as Shintaro Katsu as Zatoichi, not so much your chop socky hack and slash more your deep breathing of pure land ZEN !
I was asked to help out a friend by driving his mate to a meeting , i wasn't up for it bit of a hangover and the last thing i wanted to do was drive for hours with a procession of car's to some meeting that was nothing to do with me ! but being a Drunkenmaster i still turned up to pick this Steve guy up , we sat in my car in silence , I couldn't be bothered to talk to this little old bloke until we all stopped at a service station and Someone from another car came up to us and said to this old man do you need anything teacher ? and so i asked him what he taught ,Karate says this bloke and so i asked him his name again and he said Steve Arneil and i remembered reading a copy of Combat once about this man that had really done the 100 man kumite "you can save time if you knock them out."
.my hangover was gone and so was my silence he is truly a living legend and a really nice bloke .
as for your style ummm................Tae bo ?
Goddamn you!...you will pay for this...

Now wait just a minute....punk. Crying Freeman may have been a pair of fat blokes Y-fronts but what about the bit where he does a corkscrew between 2 swords? Answer me that, answer me that!
Actually his fight scene at the end was good. His best overall performance has to be Drive.
Pure class & one of the best action flicks made outside of Hong Kong. Only The Strong is another contender for class over budget.
Chuck "Hairy Bitch" Norris!!! Now way Gladys! I HATE THE GUY!
And yes, Gary Daniels stole the show in Fist of the Northstar. You telling me you wasn't impressed in the slightest by the fight he has with some 30 consecutive opponents as he makes his way into the fortress at the end?!?! How many kicking and hand combinations??
Come on bro, the guy did damned well!!
As for Zatoichi, yeah I'd have to agree that it definately a good film but I'd put it in the same bracket as the Baby Cart films, albeit, with a touch more class;)
As for Steve. He did a few films under the name of Steve Mansion.
Personally, I have no time for Karate, but Steve's a nice guy & Durbans finest export.
Tae Bo?!!!!!.....why you. Goddamn you....you must be tired of living....now you will feel the wrath.......of my iron fist (points to nose with thumb for the real Chinese effect).....and dragon talons........NNNYYYAAARRRHHH.
Actually, I know Billy Blanks and he's a top bloke, but no, not Tae Bo.

A lot of people in Hollywood including Bruce Willis & Schwarzenegger acknowledge that Stallone was the inventor of modern day action films.Without Rambo there would be no Die Hard.So really films are`nt copying Die Hard there copying Rambo. There are different variations like putting thespians in them or more character study.Every other poster you see is a Rambo style poster.

Barefoot Kid doesn't over-do the wire work uses it as an enhancment and not a piss-take, also the first film I saw Ti Lung in, I watched A Better Tomorrow later the same day and was blown away.
Crying Freeman & Fist Of The North Star should've stayed as Anime.
Dacascos I agree is a good martial artist and a decent actor, check out Boogie Boy for a change of pace.
Glad that nobody mentioned Mario Van Peebles.
A Touch of Zen. Fantastic.
