You can't AFAIK! Your Ping Rate is based on your network's latency. If they have a Ping Rate of around 70 they are on broadband. I assume you're not.
If they chucked you out it's because game servers try and keep the combatants reasonably well matched. If you played against broadband users by the time the screen refreshed at your end you'd be shooting at something that was already gone.
I guess Saddam must be on broadband then and the Americans still have dial-up!

Could be. If you've pressed one of the arrow keys and nothings happened and then you start moving for no reason then it's just your machine "catching up" with the game. Not sure tho' as I haven't played online for ages.
I don't have broadband, basically 'cos if I did I'd spend my life playing online games and I wouldn't have time to watch pornography.
Hmmm ... perhaps I need to get out more ...?

The reason I do take it seriously is that I have been to war in 1991, and was deployed in March to Kuwait for mobilisation for Iraq. Thats the difference between us both, I take it VERY seriously, its my job. You can 'play' and pack up at your desire.

Ace, I don't think there was any offence aimed in this thread.
By the same hand, people like playing Formula 1 or football games right?
Does the argument extend to "Put down the game pad and get behind the wheel of a car or put on a pair of studded boots and see how much fun it is then."
Personally I have driven the nuts off of cars and loved every minute and yes I have played the odd racing game as well. Same goes with football.
As for war, I haven't "been to war" but I did join up when I was a lot younger with a few friends.
We don't all share the same views on war. To some it's a pointless load of bollocks but to some it's defence of the realm.
Idealist would say "Without war, there would be no need for soldiers"
Realist will say "This is not an ideal world."
Both are right but it's just down to where our views lie.
Devils advocate extends to TV & Films. Immerison into a false concept and romanticised version of war.
I don't think anyone disrespects the choice of fighting for a cause.
Some will say it's stupid & pointless.
Some will say without soldiers we'd be fucked & some say it's all brainwashing.
As for games, I really don't think any offence was aimed in this thread. Really, I don't.
There are people on this board who have lost people thru wars or terrorist acts or even stupid ignorance by the bastard who doesn't know when not to drink & drive.
Everyone has a story and we all deal with things our own way.
I have a question for you though Ace. What made you want to go to war in 91?
I don't mean the fact that it was a military order or prime directive that you go. What did you yourself make of it when you had time alone to think?
Did you question it? Did you ever think it wasn't a good move? Did you think it just had to be done?
Hope you don't mind my asking.

I joined in 1990, just my luck within a year I was deployed to Kuwait for the first Gulf War. I absolutely loved it, not the conflict itself, but the camaraderie between great lads. These are REAL mates who watch your back regardless. The feeling of euphoria knowing you have helped liberate a country from an evil dictatorship is the best feeling in the world (apart from an orgasm)
I have since done tours of Germany, Falkland Islands, Ireland, Kuwait (again) and Kosovo and I will be leaving HM Armed Forces in September. I know without any shadow of a doubt I will be hit hard when I demob. I am really dreading going back to 'civvy street' where 'mates' are wankers, who can't hold their beer, have no idea of discipline or tradition and shrug their shoulders instead of taking responsibility.
If I could do it again, you can bet your mortgage I would.
In two minds whether to join TA as a reservist or go back to college.

Thanx for being so honest bro.
A lot of my friends who have come out have not really had much luck.
Usually they go into door work or security or another kind.
It's just a shame that people who are willing to get shot get fuck all when they are back in the real world.
A mate got killed in NI and his girlfriend got fuck all help after it. The whole "not married" bollocks came into it. Try telling that to his then 2 yeard old son.
For what it's worth, go to college.
Just out of interest, why are you leaving if you love it so much? Or can't you say on here?
