The beauty about punk was ANYBODY could have a go, so listen to the music, it is piss easy to play. Forget scales and go for power chords.

also got the two david Gilmour solo albums "About face" & "David Gilmour" the later is the more rocky, some embarrising tunes on about face

Yeah, Rick Wright is a big jazz fan Steve, did you see the classsic albums thing on BBC2? about Dark side? very interesting including some jams in the studio, can send a copy if you missed it
