What a legacy to leave behind?
I'd love to say that Bruce was the reason that I started training but unfortunately not.
I was in nappies when he died so I can't claim he was my hero, although when I was ready to give up in my mid teens after 10 years of non stop martial arts, it was a rediscovery of Bruce that kept me at it.
Big fan ever since.

As for the new footage Ace, it's not new at all and has been doing the rounds since 2000.

The extra footage from Game Of Death (GOD) was found by Bey Logan when Media Asia bought the rights to the Lee footage from the vaults of Golden Harvest.
The first incarnation of the extra 20 minutes or so came in the form of a Japanese release, referred to as the Artport G.O.D.
This is the same release in the 2 disc platinum G.O.D by Hong Kong Legends DVD's.
Another edit was made by Bruce Lee fan & historian, John Little. He was responsible for the recut and expanded storyline in the Warriors Journey project. The version of WJ that C5 ave shown is severely butchered and crap with an extremely camp voiceover.
The DVD of WJ is well worth it to see the original notes t and drawings that went along with it.
the difference between WJ and the Artport release is minimal thankfully.
The main differences being the voice for Bruce. The original audio track has been lost to time and so a new voice track and fx track had to be put down from scratch. The war cries are taking from various films whereas Bruce's voice has been done on WJ by John Little himself & Bey Logan supplies the voice for the Artport cut.
Both edits use slightly different takes for certain shots.
Altogether 90 minutes of rushes was uncovered and so gave the basic storyline, plenty of edit choices.

As for his death, the death cert. states that it was from a cerebral edema (brain swelling) brought on by a reaction to an analgesic drug. This is actually quite common in men from South East Asia.
The thought of cannabis killing him is laughable as Bruce had taken it for recreational purposes for years just like his father.
His father was an opera actor and in the circles, opium was as common as a cup of tea! So yeah, I bet some guys on here want a change in carrer;)

It's hard for people to accept that the one time fittest man on the planet could have been killed by a painkiller and so have to add some kind of mystical element to it.
The whole dim mak (delayed death touch), 38 bullets (I kid thee not) & various other death scenarios does nothing to let it go easily.
Had he really been killed in some extreme way, then people would feel better for some reason.

For what it's worth, and IMHO, without Bruce, martial arts would be a different story today, both on screen and in the class.
For me, without the odd mental Bruce Lee kick, I would never have spent 25 years doing something that most do for 3, get a belt and sod off happily.
Can I blame the Bruce Lee Estate for injuries?
Can I sue them?
Claims direct anyone?

Anyway, at last, the UK has the finest Bruce Lee footage legal.
No longer do you have to go to some dodgy backstreet Chinatown store and pick up a 10th gen VHS nor do you have to pay for US dvd's thru the nose.
The HKL DVD's are the best that you can get.
Go get the Bruce box set for ?50 and check the speed of this guy.
The set includes all the films minus Enter the Dragon which is owned by Warner Bros.
You also get a special Documentary that cannot be bought alone...unfortunately.
They have also released 2 more docs;
The Legend
The Man; The Legend.
Both are well worth it.
I can now put aside my US versions.
Also get the proper version of Warriors Journey and you wont be pissed off. It is primarily about G.O,D and has loads of extras on it.

Guess I sound like a geek now.

Bruce Lee, patron saint of the 9 stone weakling, I salute you sir.

Seriously Idol, the 'fame' went to his head after The Big Boss made him mega-famous in Hong Kong. I was in HK when he died (July 1973), but the enormity of the occasion was lost on me because we'd only been there a few months (March 1973) and Enter the Dragon fever hadn't hit UK when we had left. It wasn't till afterwards we realised this was the equivilant of 'our Princess Diana' on the scale of mass grieving.

I hated the majority of it. What you DON'T experience on the TV shows is the masses of crowds everywhere from 07.00 till midnight, the humidity, the horrible smell everywhere. My dad was a cheap cunt and I would happily bet my mortgage we were the ONLY ex-pats out their without air conditioning!! I hated the fact that ex-pats lived in reletive spacious luxury and decent Chinese families lived in squaler, I hated the colonial ways edging out a culture of thousands of years. BUT it did have its advantages, I went to a private school, although I detested it, it DID get me into a polytechnic instead of a grubby college. My familiarisation with the catering industry was spent in a 5* hotel instead of some pissy Berni Inn, so upon my return to the UK, I was snapped up to work in prestigeous hotels in London, and later, Bermuda. The 2 best things that happened to me over there was getting laid at 14 and seeing the Clash live in January 1982.

Great post Holden, although I stressed that his opium taking was experimental to which it had an effect on him, causing nauseum and off to bed, not a contributing factor to his untimely demise. Can you confirm the rest of my post was 'a safe post'?
