Out of that list, I do rate Torres from Bon Jovi, as well as Joey Kramer and Matt Sorum. Saw Tommy Lee when he WAS good before the heroin and media fucked him up.

The late, lamented (well by me anyway) John Henry Bonham.
Different style from Keith Moon, but in my opinion the best rock drummer ever.
Bill Bruford was pretty good too, preferred him with King Crimson rather than that bunch of noshers Yes.
I read somewhere a few years back that a lot of drummers reckon Ringo Starr got a bad press, and that he had a huge influence on drumming.
Of course I might have been hallucinating.
White drummers dont cut it ...!

respect that - I can't believe this thread got this far until John Bonham got mentioned. I was listenign to "Tangerine" on the way to work this morning - simple but classic.
Also what about Eric Singer (Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath and KISS) and Eric Carr (KISS - RIP). Both really heavy and good technical drummers. Tommy Lee was cool until he started doing all this hip hop shit - I've got a bootleg with his drum solo from 1990 - Dr Feelgood Tour - fucking unreal!

To be controversial.....Ringo!!! (although he wasn't even the best drummer in the Beatles!!) - but he kept a steady beat and didn't go into any pain-in-the-arse drum solos.

Agree with your top three - I've had the Led Zepp DVD on constant rotation since I got it.
Regret never seeing Bonham or Moon in performance, have seen BB loads of times - constantly inventive and makes it look effortless.
But as a Roxy Music fan, must also give "The Great Paul Thompson" a mention
