'Undoubtedly'. Hmmmmm....
So it's just business that will pay through the nose, and we'll end up paying through increased prices, then?

........perhaps addressing the very real pay/conditions issues might help with the already-demoralised/disillusioned workforce.
I left the PO 2 decades ago when the money (with O/T) was OK- now, my mates who stayed in are deeply regretting it.

This is at least partially true: my regulars loathe the casuals, and not just because of the money issue, but because they make the whole service look shite..

It can be a hard job though ..... walking around in the pissing rain with a sack thats very heavy and does nothing for your spine in the long run !
for a very low wage ....... and getting your hand ripped off buy some mutt !

Is the weight they carry regulated ?

It used to be 35 lbs, but of course excess weights were catered for with those dinky little trolleys.
However, I once clocked out with 48 lb (and 2 more bags). Too butch for those poncy prams.
Doctors even hope for an eventual complete recovery for my spinal column..............

I deal with postmen everyday as part of my job & most are OK.

We do get quite a bit of miss sorted mail, but I think they are put under too much pressure by the managers to sort & then get out on their rounds with as much mail as poss to meet the targets they have been set.

First class post is expected to be delivered next day, but in fact only 80% is.

London postmen are on strike on the 1st October, the guy who brings me my morning post is looking forward to a nice day off!!! Lucky him!!!!

Steve you can claim for a lost item under these services, you have to get a form from the post office & fill in the details & give it back to them.
