Yes I did Steve, but remember, they were TOTALLY unknown in 1979 when it was made.
I honestly believe that Long Good Friday, Get Carter and Mona Lisa are the best films of their type, even though they are old, they are still rivitting viewing.

i agree yes they are,think mona lisa was cathy tysons 1st b4 the band of gold series,and piers brosnan played a gay in another film too?

Yes, a fascinating piece. I'd forgotten how strange it was, what with the weird religious allusions and imagery running through it (another nice touch: Tower Bridge receding behind Hoskins as he makes his speech - his dream drifting away). But it's a shame they didn't stick to one the original ideas they had for the ending. Helen Mirren utters not a word throughout the film, then, as Hoskins climbs into the car and seals his fate, she smiles at him revealing a row of rotten teeth. She was in on it from the start.

i was thinking of the other bloke who always plays the bent copper or creep in tv series,i remember when i saw scum the 1st time thinking how glad was not too end up in a place like that.
