Get this as a starter Stevie, its brilliant, AND Christopher Walken appears as the Headless Horseman who whips off Richard Griffiths head, great effects

Before Titanic, Leo was touted as someone who had 'it' and if you watch his early stuff, particually 'This Boys Life' with him and DeNiro, you will see he was excellent.
Then watch Titanic, Gangs of NY and The Beach and ask yourself, 'Where did it all go wrong?'

All very true, but to be fair he carried himself pretty well in Catch Me If You Can, and it was Miramax boss Harvey Weinstein's insistence on trying to shape Gangs of NY into (hopefully) another Titanic that was really to blame there. Once again, we await the Director's cut.

The problem, Steve, is that his film career started after 1969.
Depp could easily have taken the easy gigs and be a huge Hollywood name, but it seems he'd rather stretch himself as an actor. It doesn't always work as well as it might, but credit to him for doing so. Much better to try to mould yourself into a role than have a role moulded around your public persona.

Mickey is another who turned down roles that might have stereo-typed him. He turned down Top Gun (Cruise role) Platoon (Sheen role) and Wall Street (Another Sheen role) and did films that were dire just to extend his range. Mickey is finished now, but see Diner, Rumblefish, Pope of Greenwich Village to see the mans raw talent before he turned crap after Barfly with Wild Orchid etc
A damn pity IMO
