The problem, as we've touched on before, is those 'strong, well-written dramas that questioned our role and our stance on the world stage' tend to hold little interest to foreign buyers and outside investors (they seem to prefer sterile Dickens/Austen a go-go). Even 'Threads' was only commissioned after the success of the US' syrupy 'The Day After'.
