I got his double CD with The Faces last week, and if you think Ruby Tuesday is bad, check out The Rolling Stones BEST song, Streetfighting Man ruined by Rod.
Still, can't fault his choice in blonde leggy women even if his choice of cover versions is a bit 'iffy'

There are dozens of great cover versions in pop. But for me the best recent cover version was Tin Tin Out's remake of The Sundays' 'Here's Where the Story Ends' with Shelly Nelson on vocals. It's an all-time classic of all time, mate.

Seriously though Hughie, there are in my opinion three really wonderful albums of cover versions :

1. 'These Foolish Things' - Brian Ferry. Most of his and Roxy Music's stuff makes me cringe but the reggae version of the title track and his take on Ketty Lester's 'River of Salt' are sublime.

2. 'Pin-Ups' - David Bowie. Need I say more ?

3. 'Lost in the Stars' - The Music of Kurt Weill. Lou Reed's version of 'September Song', Tom Waits' 'What Keeps Mankind Alive' are highlights. There is amazing music on this. Even Sting's version of 'Mack the Knife' can't really ruin it. And a replacement CD copy has just cost me a small fortune on eBay.

4. Er..that's it.

thanks williebo
