There's an hell of a lot of bullshit when it comes to 'real ale'. It's part of the 'real food', 'organic', small and expensive neighbourhood shop campaigns so beloved of the weekend broadsheets.

I love beer, but not the Euro- or Austro-Piss lager type slop that gets served up in pubs. Our local has regular 'guest' beers and at least half of them are fucking awful. I'll stick with Whitbread Best currently on for ?1.30 a pint.

Weatherspoons, for all the criticism it gets, seem to get it right a lot of the time. Our nearest sells Theakstons for ?1.50 a pint and it's handsome. And their guest beers don't always taste like vinegar drained through granny's gusset and sport the incredibly unfunny names that fat ugly bearded sweatshirt wearing CAMRA-Cunts seem to love.

This festive season will see me drinking copious amounts of bottled Timothy Taylor Landlord and Hoegaarden. Along with the cider, wine and single malts. Personally, this time of year is a chance for me to have a few days off and drink stuff I've not had chance to get round to before.

These anoraks really do piss me off (Campaign for Real Ale). Viz ran a few strips a couple of years ago featuring The CAMRA Twats. One featured them in a Soho bar complaining the head of a pissy pint wasnt creamy enough, cue to next frame of barman 'knocking one out' into the beer and charging the obligotory outrageous price.

NEVER seen wine with a head BC............even Americans can't have THAT!!
