Unfortunately, it's not a myth that the courts hand out soft sentences. It's a fact with too many people bearing testament to it.

The papers just highlight the ridiculous ones.
The kid who has so many convictions for practically every offence going gets a warning as prison would only make it worse.

No Mart, the reason I know of 2 of the cases being true, is that I knew the mother of the 2 girls, and the old dear is my mates Grandmother.
Therefore, I paid a lot of attention to detail.

I hear the "Oh well if it's in the papers, it must be true" mantra chanted so often...you know, maybe every now and then, there is a truth in the paper?
Otherwise, it'd all be shite and we'd be mugs for buying them.

And you can't condemn every newspaper because of the bollocks the tabloids print. Journalistic integrity is an endangered species, but not every story in even the scummiest of newspapers is a lie.
