Yes, they're awful. Along with the air of diminished character, you occasionally get the feeling you're reading the Express or the Mail - and that's not something you want happening in public. I suppose the idea is to make them more convenient for our convenience-obsessed age. Then again, I understand the tabloid format is easier for late edits regarding 'sensitive' material, which makes you think.

No need to read papers when its all there on the internet
I can remember when Adelaide went from a 2 paper town to 1
Discarded the larger pull apart format for the more economical one but seemed to also trivialise the news by doing so with the placement of ads
I can't see any difference between the new format on weekdays and a magazine
Saturdays paper is the only one where the old format still exists
and the ads don't dominate...funnily enough its called the Advertiser
The difference is like chalk & cheese

The only question you should ask yourself when choosing between a broadsheet & a tabloid is.........what would be more useful to swot a fly!! Broadsheet or tabloid??

Yep, there's a definite 'Mail' character with these 'broadloids'..........
