I've come to the conclusion that you are only offered this simple left/right choice because a lot of folks don't really know what day it is, are full of shite and haven't got the requisite intellectual scope, or the objective sense of self required to formulate their own rational opinions. So, they take the easy route and plump to support one of the two established teams. Then, when questioned, they don't have to explain or justify themselves - because that's a tough thing to do if you not very clued up about anything or haven't a robust objective and rational view of your personal position in the universe. They can then get away with speaking in sound-bites and/or regurgitating quotations from some 'little red book' and
only the most perceptive amongst us will realise that they're talking bollocks and don't really know whether they're on this Earth or 'Fuller's.'

I've always held the opinion that at least 75% of those who vote should have that "right" taken away from them on the basis that they don't know why they are voting or what they may be voting for or against.

And whose fault's that then? Theirs? The parties? or....wildcard thrown rakishly....the media?

Yeah, good point Bob. I've often mused that if you want the right to vote you should have to take some kind of basic test to determine whether you understand what you are voting for or the implications of any given parties proposed policies. In my experience there are many people out there who do not really grasp what it all means. They just give their vote on the basis of family tradition or to simply fall in line with their peers. But when fundamental issues of freedom and justice are at stake can we afford to let those have a say who have little comprehension of such abstract concepts?
