I don't think there is a single phrase in Macbeth's 'all our yesterdays' speech, that hasn't been subsequently used in the title of a film, play, book or tv programme.

Shakespeare's bawdy was sometimes obscure, his best example was the use of 'country matters' as a euphemism for sexual intercourse in Hamlet. The concentration being on the first syllable of the word 'country'.

I believe Hamlet is credited as the most-plagiarised.
But Mac's gotta come a v close second, assuming the above is true.

Wonder if the 70s producers of Country Matters (based on H E Bates and Coppard) were aware of this?
Bates certainly worked sex into most of his stuff...........

Hamlet: Lady, shall I lie in your lap?
Ophelia: No, my lord.
Hamlet: I mean, my head in your lap.
Ophelia: Ay, my lord.
Hamlet: Do you think I meant country matters?
Ophelia: I think nothing, my lord.
Hamlet: That's a fair thought to lie between maids' legs.

Love the ambiguity of that 'Ay, my Lord'.

In Branagh's film of Hamlet he chose (and who wouldn't with La Winslett as Ophelia) to have a nude love scene between Hammy and Phelia, which was ridiculed by a number of critics and scholars, but which makes sense of her going mad later after her father being killed by her lover.

Totally agree- what we need is more Nude Shakespeare.
Perhaps C5 could do a series, ' "Bawdy Bard"- Shakespeare: the Dirty Bits'.
Like Chris Clark's 'Hamlet' rip of the 90s, with SLY.......

I once saw a porn version of Hamlet, I don't think it was the SLY one, where Hamlet did 'to be or not to be' while having a blow job. Trouble was the props were for the 'Alas! poor Yorick' scene!
