Reading between the lines, we once again have the disturbingly romanticised treatment of football hooliganism as some sort of tradition, one, like many traditions, that duly exudes a false air of necessity, perpetuated by nothing more than attitude (and an attitude perpetuated by the tradition, of course.) I know the heated, clannish mentality can boil over during a match, but this sort of thing merely exploits that for its own vile ends. For fuck's sake at least try to think about breaking the cycle, eh?

"So, a group of men arrange to have a bit of a scuffle, it lasts no more than a few minutes, nobody's badly hurt - if at all - and yet the courts hand out incredibly harsh sentences. And all for violence that's no worse than happens outside pubs and nightclubs every weekend around the country."

The above should read " A group of Braindead scum arrange to have 'a bit of a scuffle' fine! unless you or your family are caught up in it, and you 'accidently' end up on a life support machine, when all you wanted was a day out with your family, as Maggs said. get real! 38 years each would have been about right, no remission and a good kickin every day.

.......except when the Governmint do it, of course.
I found myself reminded somewhat of those SM-gays who got severely done a while back- was a conspiracy charge factored into their case?

It wasn't a case that showed Brit justice at its best.
Plenty of judges into all that, the hypocrites.

This may come as a revelation to you Bimmer, but the whole world loves and plays football[not soccer]and its not just the Europeans that kick the shit out of each other at football matches. When i was working in South Africa, to go to a Kaiser Chiefs/Orlando Pirates game in Johannesburg was taking your life in your hands;and it had nothing to do with the colour of your skin.
Oh, on a final note, did anyone notice when the Yanks were fighting in Fallujah there was film of the locals touting R.P.G.s and A.K.47s etc, shouting Jihad and death to infidels, and one of the little bastards was wearing a Man utd football shirt!
I dont think he should be shot but possibly a good kicking.
