Any song of the modern era pales into insignificance when compared to classical master pieces
After all/most composers were geniuses, weren't they?
So if your after the cleverest then surely it has to be from one of these
cheers
B....OZ Maestro has left the building

I'll give him credit for seeing the irony;credit him with the probable intention for it to show himself as guilty of wanting possessions as anyone else.

For lyrics I might go for Love Will Tear Us Apart, and for music Wuthering Heights.

I thought the man was brilliant, as you say especially in his early years. I did hear an interview with him, that he had terrible stones or something that preventing him hitting all the notes he used too.
I went to two of his concerts, i know i am a sad wanker, but i must say, performance and show was of a true musician.
I had all his albums on l.p. they got destroyed in a flood.
I am a bit of a jimmy cliff fan, and john holt, not difficult musically, but it gets me going.
