The bowler was Definitely Trevor Chappell...Lillee was to busy waxing his moustache down at deep fine leg

You can hit a boundary of an underarm delivery as
a South African showed way back in the sixties. All you need do is let the ball hit your shoe at the tip,it bounces up and you then have a chance at swiping it to or over the boundary

The Kiwis should have borrowed Lillees Aluminium Bat

Would have done the trick

OK everone does this when they are fielding and cant be arsed to bend down , but you would run the risk of being LBW if you were batting . Underarm bowling was the reason bats used to have scoop at the front to pick the ball up. You are quite right that was the Chappel Brothers , and how nice to remember that we need never see them at the crease in a test match ever again .

How very true on all points epsecially the Chappell brothers

We Aussies only have to put up with Ian Chappells & occasionally Gregs commentating on the cricket-a good a reason as any to never watch the game again

I suppose for me they take me back to time that I would rather forget , we were crap at everything , and even with Renegades like Tony Greig in our team still couldnt bowl straight or take catches . Then to get the Chappels droning on about how great they were and condescending to point out where we were going wrong , together with a few pearls of bleedin obvious advice added a certain piquancy . While on the subject of not worth watching what has happened to the West Indies ?

The West Indies have been down & out for a long time
Once the last of their great bowlers(Walsh,Ambrose) retired
they were gone

Its all to do with funding and the Windies just don't have it

The talent pool in the Windies is also thin on the ground due to other sports
ie Football/Soccer

When you look at how few new players were introduced during their stella period you can understand their demise

All the big name Windies players played in England so all the raw talent in the Windies never really got exposed to the greats for any worthwhile amount of time

Back to money again...no cricket academy like the Aussies & now the English have.I doubt they will ever rise again especially once Lara retires
