I gave up on her when she went all arty. I didn't think much of For the Roses and Court and Spark and didn't buy the later ones; so I can't help with those.
The track Big Yellow Taxi (on Ladies of the Canyon) is about how we are ruining the planet without realising it and we'll regret it when we've finished ruining it. The bit about DDT follows on from a book in the early sixties by the American science writer Rachel Carson, called Silent Spring, where she (Carson) tells how, in the USA, chemical pesticides were sprayed on crops with complete disregard for how they affected non-pest birds and insects (and even children and pets). Thus 'Give me spots on my apples but leave me the birds and the bees please.' (Silent Spring - i.e. no bird song.)
You'll have to specify tracks, but I don't guarantee I'll understand them myself - Clouds for example.

Hissing of Summer Lawns is the album that decided me to give up buying her stuff; so much so that I'd forgotten about it. Sorry.

She was also the one who claimed she wrote Ruby Tuesday, in spite of the credit being given to Jagger and Richards. She vented her spleen in Look What They've Done To My Song.
