Just a general comment about trends/things etc eminating from Uncle Sam eventually permeate other countries eventually.

I said 'not very relevant' because of course it is a ruling on the effect of the US constitution, which doesn't apply here.

However, the European Convention on Human Rights, which has been incorporated into UK law, has provisions on freedom of expression, and anyone who wants to argue a case under those provisions might find useful material in US Supreme Court cases.

Absolutely, 'cause the right for anyone to own handguns has been US law for over 150 years and we immediately followed suit ... um... or... hang on... no... still waiting...

Still at least we've followed their other laws. We've got to be 21 to drink alcohol. Every classroom has to have the Ten Commandments prominently displayed in it. Abortion is forever on the brink of being made illegal.

Meanwhile, back in the real world, we (thankfully) have far more in common with Europe than them pricks on the other side of the 'pond'. Although it has been bizarre how - up until recently - we have in one area (hardcore porn) had prohibition unlike either of our (continental or transatlantic) neighbours. Oh well, better late than never.

American law means nothing to us. I pray it never will.

But legislation cannot be created in a vacuum: a wise lawmaker will always do a bit of comparative jurisprudence.
Pity our lot are arses.

Whats that word all lawmakers look for to strengthen their position.

Precedent maybe.

Maybe you could start exporting some of those asses over to Uncle Sam Las Vegas would be a good starting point.
