True but I'm of the opinion that the Nationwide League is on a par with most of the smaller European Leagues

Presumably most young players will try the backdoor - Smaller European leagues

Even if your just a Squad player at one of the giants you will still learn from being around the big names. The way that they structure the competiotions these days you will still see time all be it in the Cup Games

This should be seen as nothing but an apprenticeship and a stepping stone
to another club for most

Quite a few of Man Us recent crop have been discarded for as you say the overseas import

The biggest danger is for the National Teams with this current set-up
but that doesn't bother the clubs.Look at Germany...no strikers on the horizon due to over use of imports in the bundes-lige

I only have to look closer to home to see the damage done to the Scottish national side. I think our ranking is five behind the Papua New Guinea under 11 girls.

Yeah, but they could be playing with only one leg and still beat our lot :-(

I think what really started this rant off was watching the inglorious Glasgow Rangers playing the qualifying match for the Champions League the other night and realising that I'd be cheering on their opponents even if they consisted of al Qaida, the Ku Klux Klan and Skinner and Baddiel. I utterly despise that club, what it's doing to Scottish football and everything it stands for now and has in its history. And I'm not even a Catholic!

Maybe if the Fans didn't demand instant success then the people running the empire would think twice before forking over serious cash for the string of B-Grade imports

I'm yet to see a decent import come from Rangers...at least Celtic can say they picked Larsson

Its usually a one way street...Premier/European league to Scottish Retirement Villa

You're better informed than many of those supposed to be in charge of the game in this country.

The real scary thing(if I've been reading correctly) is that the teams below the 2 giants are just as stupid when it comes to spending/investing money
on players...City v City being the cause I believe?

At least Rangers or Celtic know their money will at the very least give them a shot a 3 pieces of silverware and a possible dawdle round Europes Lesser Cups
