I got an ace video the other off ebay, a compilation of clips "Best Childrens TV of the 70's". There's a long clip of Playschool, which brought back a lot of memories, with the "what's under the clock today" sequence, and the great Derek Griffiths "wobbling like a jelly". There's also a long clip of Play Away from the mid-70's, with the marvellous Brian Cant leading a cast (including Jeremy Irons and Tony "Baldrick" Robinson) through some corny songs and jokes. And, to cap things off there's a sorted clip of Rainbow, with the pre-Rod, Jane & Matthew singers and Bungle pretending to be a horse.
Magic!

Stuart Maconie writes:
"Mr Benn was a sort of ironic, very iconoclastic take on the repressed, bowler-hatted........zzzzz........"
(drifts into reverie, muttering Abba, Spangles, etc.)
