In the televised series of 1963 - 89 he didn't come back as a female, but in the Comic Relief skit, Curse of Fatal Death, he regenerated into Joanna Lumley. And she had nice tits.

Officially there hasn't been a female Doctor, but the Lumley option is there if you want to win a bet or do trick questions for a pub quiz.

La Lumley was the last Comic Relief incarnation after sarcastic Rowan Atkinson, narcissistic Richard E. Grant, painfully shy Jim Broadbent, and foppish Hugh Grant. Given that his (and her) assistant was Julia Sawalha, there was a lot of comic potential in Lumley playing the part.

I think that mad old brush Tom Baker started the ball rolling when he announced his resignation and wished the best of luck to his successor, "whoever he or she might be."

Oh, and didn't Katy Manning go off to Australia or New Zealand?

Personally, I hate Sylvester McCoy with a passion and as soon as my one week swearing sabatical is up, I'm ripping the fuck out of him.

Sorry guys, I was being too subtle. I was referring, indirectly, to the recent demise of a prominent forumite who seemed to have resurrected in female form.

His one saving grace was he isn't Colin (look at how ridiculous I am, here come years of playing a panto dame if I'm lucky) Baker.
