Yes - I got that impression
Kerry is a class warrior but only on the side of capitalism - he just has a slightly different idea about how to go about it to Bush but he's still a lover of big business. He doesn't believe in any sort of redistribution of wealth apart from in an extremely limited sense but many capitalist politicians have thrown scraps from the table to stop people complaining so why should Kerry be any different. Even if he did that is not a central plank of Marxism anyway but more of reformist labourism - Marxists want to abolish private property and class society altogether. not tinker with it. Marxists also see the state as a product of class based society and that with the final end of classes under socialism the state would no longer be needed and will "wither away" as Marx put it. So Marxists are not in favour of giving the capitalist state more power at all - that would be rather stupid as it would enable the state to repress any forces for progress.
As for Moore - he's a sort of mixed up leftist can't make his mind up democrat but a million miles from Marxism still - no Marxist in their right mind would support Kerry - you'd have to be totally deluded.

Thanks Woodgnome, you've stated (far more clearly and politely) my own sentiments.
But I suspect Bimmercat is a lost cause. Someone who thinks there is a leftwing in the USA is obviously living in some parallel universe.

And Australias Chagos is East Timor
We were so brave sending our troops in to kick the Indonesian Militias out after almost 30 years of turning a blind eye..WHY?
Oil & Gas Royalties
Seems we've kicked out the International courts and become the sole owner of these resources.Since 1999 we've collected 2 Billion in revenue and have the cheek to say that the 400 million returned revenue was AID

Bimmercat, if I was an American, I'd vote against Bush because
1) he gave a huge tax cut to the rich (a nice redistribution of wealth from ordinary Americans to very wealthy ones)
2) he has wrecked the Federal budget (he inherited a budget surplus from Clinton)
3) he has no solution to offer the tens of millions of Americans without health insurance
Oh, and 4, he decided to attack Iraq when it had nothing to do with 9/11 or the war against terrorism.
Kerry ain't perfect, but even I know he'll roll back the tax cut for the rich (yes, they take risks, but their taxes were aleady pretty low in world terms), will work to repair the damage Bush has done to the budget and has plans to tackle the healthcare gap.
As for Iraq, we are where we are and they won't e a quick pullout whoever wins, but hopefully Kerry would make an effort to get peace between Israel and the Palestinians - unlike Bush who is standing back and doing nothing.
I wish the US Election and who wins didn't matter to us here in Britain but, as Woodgnome said, the US sneezes and we catch a bleeding cold - just look at Iraq.

It always makes me laugh when an American is complaining about high taxes.
Let me tell you what I have to pay:
- income tax: 26% of my gross salary;
- contributions to the social insurance: 4% of my gross salary (don't let the name fool you: it is a tax);
- contributions to my pension scheme: 8% of my gross salary (OK, this is no tax, but I have to pay it; there's no way of escape);
- medical insurance: 2% of my gross salary (there is no obligation to pay it, but not paying would be very unwise).
This means I cannot get control of 40% of my salary. I bet you pay a lot less.
This is by no means all. Once a year the city I live in claims a local tax. In my case this is half a month's net salary. A considerable amount of it goes to the local football club, that squanders it freely.
A more modest institution is the District Water Board, that claims 10% of a net month's salary every year.
O yes, I almost forgot. In the Netherlands there is a Value Added Tax of either 6% or 19% on anything one buys. Few people are aware of the fact, but to many countries, including the Netherlands, VAT is the biggest source of income.
By the way, did you know I make a living by writing about taxes? I love taxes, but sometimes I can't help feeling that I would love a little less taxes a little more...
Still complaining, Bimmercat?

Hold on Bimmercat - Clinton inherited a huge deficit from Bush senior, turned it round and left a budget surplus to Bush junior. 40 years doesn't come into it.
Bush Junior promptly gives a tax cut to people who least need it - then launches into an expensive war (he needs the money from those rich people).
The very low paid who don't pay tax - well, they need all the help they get (especially those who have no healthcare insurance, something that doesn't apply here with our NHS which covers everyone, rich or poor). And doesn't everyone pay sales tax etc?
You take a different view, Bimmercat, free world and you are the only in this thread who will actually get the vote. My point is that Bush had much better things to do with that cash than give it to the very rich and he's now turned a Federal syrplus into a deficit. Him, by his actions - again, nothing to do with the past, or anyone before him.. Vote the guy back in by all means - but do you really approve of this?
You seem angry with the way the US is being run but your answer is simply to relect Bush. Nothing is going to change if he gets back in.
