I agree that the ref should change his name to Homer and become a guest on the Simpsons.

Ferdinands foul was blatant and he should have walked. The fact after that incident he was by far the best player on the park probably made the Gooners even more mad.

I didn't mean Home Grown by Chelsea

I meant home grown as he went from one London Club West ham to another London Club Chelsea and the Obligatory he's English

11 million was money well spent for the Clubs Future compared to some of the others I could mention ie. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink

Poin taken.

Jimmy still scored goals for them though Jimmy and has everywhere he's played.

He's not my type of player, a bit to in and out and moody for me but you have to respect his goals record.

?24m for Drogba makes me laugh. He's a decent player but worth ?10m tops.

Still not as bad as the ?10m we payed for that Diouf wanker.

True JFH is a goal scoring machine....yes his goals were important but when you've got 3 other top class stikers in the squad it did seem like a bit of over kill..top class strikers are everywhere IMHO but top quality defenders are rare

The prices being paid for up n coming talent are ludicrous but then when your playing monopoly as these Billionaires are whats the difference bewteen 10 & 24 million...they wants they gets....Drogba might be around for a while but I wouldn't bet on it if Trophies aren't won

No arguments about Diouf not performing to his Seoul 2002 standard
Far too much of a non-team player to ever make it in the EPL
I'd expect he's not the centre of attention in the Liverpool squad so thats got to hurt the EGO.I see he recenty copped a 3 match International ban

So Senegal are going to be a better side for the next 3 games then!

Rarely on my many trips to Anfield have I seen someone as pathetic as him. He is fucking useless.

I take your point about Abramhovic's money but there comes a point where clubs and players start taking the piss out of you and thats what is happening to Chelsea.

There's a feeling that unless Chelsea over pay both in transfer fees and players salaries then the best players wouldn't go anywehere near them as top players always have options of joining (or staying at) the really big clubs and to be a big club you have to have tradition and you can't buy that.

Chelsea don't have it.

Drogba would be at Juventus now, Duff at Liverpool and do you think Makhelele would have left Madrid unless Chelsea more than doubled his wages.

I don't think so.

However I think Abramhovic's money is good for the game in general.

What many Chelsea fans fear is if Roman gets 'bored' with Chelsea and fucks off to buy an American ice hockey team, I can't see those big names at Chelsea hanging about for a reduced pay packet.
Of all Romans funded buys, I only rate a few, Robben is pure class as is Cech, Cole and Carvalho.
Kezman will come good, he still tries enough to please the fans, but the likes of Drogba, Veron, Makele, Geremi etc are over priced....its just because its Chelsea and Abramovic and his mountains of cash got them sold WAAY over their true worth, and the chance to earn twice as much at The Bridge than say the San Siro

True but thats what it takes to try and climb the ladder

In the end Money talks...it used to be Italy, then England & then Spain and
now its a combination of all 3 and lets not forget the retirement fund set up in Scotland

Another factor is also Lifestyle & language

The Cold & Wet of England vs Warmer Spain/Portugal

I think any player given the chance would aspire to make it at a Big traditional Club

I disagree about the mountain of money being good for the game

Its been shown over time that all it is doing is getting all Clubs deeper & deeper into debt....one day when the fan on the terrace says NO MORE,be it Merchandising,Match Day or Pay TV subscritpions the shit will hit the fan

IMHO Players Wages should start from a base and then build up for performing on the pitch.Substantial Bonuses for reaching Europe etc
not the other around

The fact that you get paid the same wether you win, lose or draw is farcical to me

cheers
