does the situation never justify a little bit of terrorism?
if i were a 2 bob palestinian going about me business when suddenly being
mercilessly bulldozed up the road by a dollar backed bunch of self serving god wanks, i think i might just be moved to a bit of blood letting....
who could fail to look into the eyes of "the god fearing dr. ian paisley" and not want to knock his block off?
what about ian smith and those neo nazi bar stewards that lined the streets when young nelson was first taking a look at the world around him.
many of the people you post as "terrorists" didnt exactly grow up with the luxury of the ballot box.
arafat.

Re: Mandela
But the point he makes is a valid one.
The likes of Menachem Begin was quite happy to commit terrorist atrocities because it was a way of pushing for a homeland. Mandela was a non-person in South Africa struggling against a system which oppressed him at every turn. Castro could be seen as a terrorist, trying to free Cuba from the clutches of the Mafia.
Terrorist or freedom fighter? Only history can ever decide.
Having said all that, I do wonder about how many people are talked into becoming martyrs for the cause. "God knows, I wish I could be doing it myself, but I'm needed here. Have a belt loaded with explosives, and see you in the afterlife."

Re: arafat.
Brian Nelson - Undercover British Agent convicted for UDA terrorist actions. All Mandela, Arafat have done is fight for their homeland, Monachin Began was an Isreaki terrorist who fought against the British then became their Prime Minister, one man's terrorist another man's freedom fighter.

Re: arafat.
So in that sense JP, are Gerry Adams and Martin McGuiness terrorists or Freedom Fighters seeing as they fought for their homeland?

In a large number of peoples eyes they are hence the reason that Sinn Fein has now become the largest Nationilist/Republican political party in Northern Ireland.
