Arnie is right, charity starts at home, and I get more depressed with the state of this countries homeless and pensioners than I do for another countries problems.
When we have this place 'sorted' then we can help others as far as I'M concerned

The West London of my youth is now on dvd

Band aid III

Post by Hitman »

Its the 3rd version of it, Orignally done in 1984, then re-recorded in 1989 and now 3rd time sung by some crap singers!! except for Bono/Bob Geldof & Midge who were on the orignal one, the rest of them are all talentless in the 2004 version. Good idea but they could have got better singers/musicians. I can't see this selling that well, although it will get to No.1, it won't sell as many as the first 2 versions did. We wait and see???

Trouble is Ace our/your problems as with every other so called Developed Nations will never be sorted

Ageing Population...Dwindling Workforce to pay for those retired...unsustainable

Anyone that has had to live on the Pension knows how much of a struggle it is to do anymore than just exist.Thats the reality most of us will face unless we come into money

Even that existence is preferable to many other countries that just treat the elderly as a burden...no welfare system in such wonderful democracies as India

I agree more needs to be done for the homeless not just saying they're in the too hard basket and playing pass the person and above all else relying on non-profit charities to take up the slack for the State

cheers

I bought it in 1984 (well, I sent my mum to the local record shop whilst I was at school)... I was 11 at the time, though.
In hindsight it probably made not as much difference as the leading lights would like to think, it's all still going on, these nations are still using their own citizens as pawns and cannon fodder whilst spending heavily on weaponry etc. Only today charity is big business, the sheer amount of different charities wanting our cash on a constant basis is overwhelming.

As a record, the original stands up pretty well as a tune, ramshackle and cobbled together it's amazing how well it did turn out. It was very of-it's-time, yet slap bang in the middle of the 80's what a time for uk pop music. The SAW 1989 version was entirely forgettable, just as this one will prove to be.

New version is rap with a capital C

Too many talentless people involved, and those who CAN sing woefully under-employed.

IF (and it's a big if) they wanted to do something to celebrate the 20th anniversary, they should have got some of the current talent to write their own song and released it as a double A side with the original.

As for looking after our own, maybe we should all join the Redgraves!

i, shock horror, dont actually mind it!! modernised it and got rid of the "cheese factor." but gotta say why not just stick your four quid in a charity box rather than inflating these so called stars egos. theres only a couple of acts on there i actually rate (robbie, joss stone, coldplay) but why have these flash-in-the-pan twats like mcfly and all them fuckers!! cheers mr.dj
