Pakistans young Batsmen are all at sea

Only the old wise heads made a contribution in the 2nd test-that didn't include inzam-ulhaq...big fat lazy Captain my ass

Bowling wise their allright
ahktar & sami are quicker than most
kaneirias leg spin is as good as Warne if not better
they just lack a decent third seamer

cheers

They've always been gritty fighters that the boer coming out in them
but far too few are always doing the bulk of work

A team is only as strong as its weakest link

Once the likes of Pollock & kallis retire they'll be a rudderless boat IMHO

cheers

No I agree with you that Test Cricket isn't the same standard as it was.

Batsmen from the 80's and before had much better techniques and knew how to survive and just hang in there while the going was tough, build partnerships etc.

Even the bowlers looked better. I have lots of slightly older stuff on Dvd and watching bowlers like Lillee, Marshall and Curtly Ambrose bowling 90-95mph leg breaks is still a joy to behold. Maybe the pitches are better prepared now but I just don't see todays bowlers with the same skill as then.

Obviously the one thing that has improved above all else is the fielding.

Sure some of your batsmen have come again and even though there averages suggest that they are all time greats, personally I'm not sure about that.

The strength lies in Warne and McGrath and more recently Gilchrist. Fantastic cricketers who would have graced any era.

And thats where Abdul Razzaq or Azzar Mahmood should step in.

I must admit I was amazed when Inzi got the captaincy. How can you lead by example when it's well known that he'd rather eat cheeseburgers than practice or get and keep fit.

But they do have some young cricketers coming through so maybe they are planning for the future.

Kallis is real class and if I was picking a world team then he'd be one of the first names on the team sheet, along with Tendulkar, Dravid.....

I best stop there before I get carried away.
