I expect Mourinho & Rijkaard probably swapped spit in the tunnel if Jose caught up with him ;-)

I can understand tipping against Man U in Italy given their history their
but Arsenal at home are easily capable of a 2-0 against a defensive minded Bayern Munich

A touch of Dutch arrogance perhaps in the comment
The comments labelled at Chelsea in leg 1 were the same that Barcelona
said about Liverpool in 2001

They're yet to work it out that defence wins trophies

Marvellous game, Chelsea must now be favourites.
Good to see Man U and Fergie get a stuffing.

I remember well Barcelona's superiority complex when they played Liverpool in the Uefa Semis of 2001 and there has been very much the same aroggance from them this time.

Even with a new President, Manager and completely new team they still think they're better than the opposition and are more than prepared to say so.

It makes me wonder whether the whole club is bloody arrogant?

without doubt, the best game I have seen in 2 years.....including beating Arsenal in last seasons Champs League
We rode our luck, didn't deserve the 4th, and Barca had majority of the play, but grit and determination saw us through.
Kezman and Cech were brilliant, as was Joe Cole............about time he produced for the big occasion.
Every chelsea player played for the shirt last night.
I admit having a tear in my eye at the final whistle.

Its a Catalan thing I'm betting

The fact that win, lose or draw they still have 90,000+ crowds give them the illusion their a Big Successful Club but when you compare them with their bitter rivals Real Madrid in Europe their also rans

Their Arrogance should have well and truly been deflated by that 4-0 thumping on their home turf in the champions league final against A C Milan many moons ago in the Stoichov era but apparently not

Sounds about right Ace

Chelsea played 20 minutes of classic counter attacking football and should have led 4-0(expect Lampard will be practicing his volleys) followed by to much deep defending( I lost count of the number of times Galls saved the day)...shades of Monaco last year in the semi

How Barcelona didn't score more than 2 goals is anyones guess
2 clear cut chances went begging...Ronaldinhos free header in the box in the first half and the rebound of the post to the feet of a barca player with an outfielder to beat...skyed over the top

Still a wins a win and if its entertaining then so much the better

Yeah I remember that game well as I was living in Ealing in West London at the time and watched it in my favourite pub just off the Uxbridge Road.

I remember Cruyff and Stoichkov rambling on before the game that they had much better players, were a helluva lot better side than Milan but they got a right old thumping.

Just goes to show that actions speak louder..............

PS

From memeory I think that game was in Athens and not Barcelona but I'm not sure.

Your right,it was athens...how the memory fades when you weren't there ;-)

I think their over confidence came from the fact they'd been winning the Primera Liga year after year(4/5 if memory serves me correctly) with ease culminating in the champions league win in 1992 against Italian opposition-Sampdoria

Its a fine line between believing in yourself and deluding yourself
Hristo Stoichkov & Cruyff were both almost unique talents but one does wonder about their mentality.I bet cruyff thought Holland were better than Germany in 74 but then why would you take yourself out of the game to negate your opposition...mentality?

I've no doubt which side Barcelona fall on once you look past all the primera liga titles

cheers
