> invent/manufacture, like Gates etc, not oppurtunists

I have worked in the computer industry for 30 years, and can
tell you Gates has never invented ANYTHING.

Now I have nothing but admiration for Gates and Microsoft,
and they have built themselves up from nothing to one of the
most important companies in the world.

But almost everything they have done has been borrowed or
bought (or stolen) from other companies.

Their original MS DOS was bought off some guy for peanuts when
IBM needed an operating system for the original PC.

The windowing/mouse interface that they put on to Windows was
stolen wholesale from development work done by Zerox.

SQL Server was bought from Sybase.

Windows NT (which became XP and Windows Server 2003) was bought
off DEC when they cancelled the project.

MS Virtual PC was bought off another company.

MSN has stolen search ideas from Gooogle.

Intenet Explorer was based on Mosaic, the original browser (see
Help, About Internet Explorer where it tells you).

So they have invented almost nothing, what they have done is
MARKETED themselves very well.

(Did you know for example that in the early days of Windows, each
PC manufacture who wanted to ship with Window pre-installed had
to pay Microsoft money even if the PC shipped WITHOUT windows.
