Re: Who is Pete Doherty?

Doherty is a fair talent, has made some good (if a tad ramshackle) tracks, but is vastly over-rated by the indie press, on self-destruct with both his health and his bands and is destined to be a member of "that club". The difference between him and the dead rock stars of yore (Hendrix, Bonham, Morrisson, Cobain even Moon etc etc) is that his music is secondary to the drugs and lifestyle, and the recorded legacy he leaves will not even compare.
Todays press are grasping at straws for any "celeb" coverage they can scrape up, young Pete's junkie lifestyle is their idea of sex'n'drugs&rock'n'roll, and like most things of today, cannot compare to the innovators of yesteryear. However awful it seems, they are glamourising it by giving it so much coverage, desperate for their own Kurt & Courtney.
