Hang on a minute, even as the son of a Glaswegian Protestant this Catholic baiting is a bit offhand. I make jokes about Celtic FC, not the Church, many of my father's best customers were of the Catholic Faith.

I was brought up in a catholic school in the 70's and 80's and yes there were nuns and stuff but I don't recognise any of your charges against the church
to call the abuse endemic is wide of the mark, yes there have been a lot but as you say 1.3 billion is a lot of people and you will get cases.
To drag up a case from the 1800's is hardly proof of an evil regime, compare that to workhouses in london for the poor...evil state?
The vast majority of the poeple in the church are just normal people as in all religions but the few that make the headlines tar all the others with the same brush, you seem to have fallen into that trap

Thats because the Muslims have nothing like the Twin Towers for crazed Christian extremists to fly into. What are they going to destroy? The mountains of Pakistan?!

The kaaba Mecca

Dome of the rock jerusalem

Both magnificent structures a million times more holy then the twin towers. The Kaaba, in fact the whole of Mecca is considered so precious non muslims arnt even allowed entry into the city, less their mere precense risk polluting it. Flying a plane into either of those two buildings would I feel bring every muslim on the planet up in arms and life as we know it would implode.

The last Magdalene Laundry was not shut down until 1996:

Operated by the Sisters of the Magdalene Order, the laundries were virtual slave labor camps for generations of young girls thought to be unfit to live in Irish society.

Girls who had become pregnant, even from rape, girls who were illegitimate, or orphaned, or just plain simple-minded, girls who were too pretty and therefore in "moral danger" all ran the risk of being locked up and put to work, without pay, in profit-making, convent laundries, to "wash away their sins."

They were completely cut off from their families, and many lost touch with them forever.

Stripped of their identities, the girls were given numbers instead of names. They were forbidden to speak, except to pray. If they broke any rule or tried to escape, the nuns beat them over the head with heavy iron keys, put them into solitary confinement or shipped them off to a mental hospital.

Over a period of 150 years, an estimated 30,000 women were forced into this brutal penance, carried out in secret, behind high convent walls.

Towards the end of the 20th century, the laundries began to close, as the power of the Church in Ireland diminished and as social attitudes became less puritanical. Incredibly, the last Magdalene laundry to shut down was in 1996.

As someone who works in Social Housing Support religion has nothing to do with child abuse. Child abuse can be carried by all persuasions with parents and close relatives being the main offenders, not teachers, priests etc.

and the last workhouse only closed around 1950, so something similar happened in one country and this has caused your moral crusade against the catholic church
tell me do you have a personal interest in the catholic church which causes you so much bile or are you just raking up negative stories found from the media

I never said abuse didn't happen elsewhere ... it's just the Catholic Church institutionalised it and in effect condoned it by covering it up for decades. They moved priests around the world in secret to cover up wrong doings (even though they knew of their guilt) so they could carry on their activities. In the US there is a sort of vendetta in the media against the Catholic church (and rightly so) and they have successfully been sued for millions - keep an eye on sites like

life as we knew it has imploded in the last 4 sorry years, with little chance of a respite
Greedy Western corporate cock-sucking hypocritical fraudsters masquerading as caring leaders convincing their idiot masses the way forward is to curtail any forms of genuine freedom and give up their rights vs Backward racist eastern hypocrites spouting savage mumbo-jumbo from the dark ages masquerading as god's true voice whilst convincing some mentally ill wanna-be's the way forward is not to target the corporations and leaders but to kill the public as to make a "religious" statement, absolutely fucking tiresome.
DAMN THEM ALL
