No Wigan aren't guaranteed to be in Europe.

If it was the FA CUP Final then Wigan would be in Europe because UEFA insist that a club comes from that countries (premier) Cup competition.

With Leagues Cups then the national associations choose hence that spot goes where the FA wants it to and they give it to the next placed Premiership club i.e. 6th place.

Sorry Man U fans but you know you generally get the majority of decisions when you play the smaller clubs just like Arsenal did in the semi final on Tuesday night against Wigan though Wigan still managed to get through.

and I bet they complain if they're not awarded a penalty too! I was in me local watching the utd match and when they got a penalty the few reds in there cheered and one said loudly its about time we had a penalty this season! Unbelievable! Then Shergar missed it (well it was superbly saved really) and the rest of the pub cheered! Magic!

Yes the winners do but not the runners up, even if the winning team have already qualified for Europe by a league placing.

That only happens in the FA Cup.
