I never take any notice of the Oscars, or anything to do with actors really. Another night of the year where a load of vastly overpaid people get togethor to pat themselves on the back for pretending to do something of value. Whoopty-doo.

It's all aload of bollocks but the luvvies like it. Not watched it for years as I couldn't stand the utter hogwash whoever opened the envelope had to read off the autocue or the drivel the winner came out with.
Read that the goodie bags the presenters got were worth $50k, included laser eye surgery vouchers, air flights etc, bet they were better guarded than a Securitas depot.
Worth watching the highlights with the sound turned off to see the reaction of a favourite when they don't win. Best one was the Bafta's many years ago when Colin Welland who wrote Chariots of Fire lost out to Gregory's Girl and nearly burst into tears. Few weeks later he won the Oscar and all was well again, with his shout of "The British are coming".
Always liked the way the British awards feted any 3rd rate American who bothered to cross the pond to attend, like it was the 2nd Coming. A few more of them come over now, probably to watch Lord Dickie gush over whoever has been around long enough to get a life-time award.
