In principle I agree about the protection dressing up as a Power Ranger gives you. But some modern scooters will do 100mph, how come no one dresses up like this when riding these? Why because you'd look stupid!
Also if your on the Cote D'Azur or Italy or Malibu beach, people take super-bikes out and don't feel the need to armour themselves.
My belief is that it more a fashion statement, than for practicality. However I'm sure you can take up this point with me when I'm lying in intensive care!!

Jim, I ride a Yamaha FJR 1300 and nearly always wear some protective trousers and jacket. But it isnt a fashion thing it is to keep my body in one piece if the worse should happen.

In theory I always wear full leathers .... it is stupid not to.

having said that I am pootling about on my CBR today with jeans and trainers on as it is a haslle to keep getting changed !wink!
