Re: Stop The War
"I dont see why considering Israel's actions to be over the top, in destroying the infrastructure of a neighbouring country, in retaliation for what are in comparison pin-pricks (albeit ones that cause unacceptable deaths) makes me a Jew hater."
So, are you saying that you are the author of the 'Stop the War' website? Because I don't recall any instance of accusing you of being a Jew hater?

A lot of people seem to think that to criticise Israel makes one anti semitic. Which I am not.

Fair enough. But don't you sense an ugly undercurrent of anti-Semitism amongst snooty European types nowadays? Like on serious TV news programs in the UK, in the sniffy magazines and newspapers, the emotive language they use, the one-sided reporting. Shit, they hardly make any pretence of impartiality anymore. One gets the sense of a pan-European middleclass mob mentality ? middleclass people joining in simply because they unconsciously think that this is the position a middleclass person should take - to fit in with all the other concerned middleclass people. Sure, they can do big sums and speak foreign languages, but they?re not too hot on independent thinking. They?re very susceptible to suggestion, susceptible to ?isms? - which they tend to adopt with the untrammelled zeal of, well, the zealot. Reason and rational tend to go out of the window. Hey, I wonder if this is how it all started back in the 30?s?
Oh, by the way. This brings to mind an amusing quip that Rod Liddle made in the Times last Sunday - ?All that the BBC demands of its female newsreaders is an ability to read in an impartial way words like ?Israel has murdered more Lebanese children again today? from the teleprompter?

Well im assuming that the people who run this site had something to do with organising the march and some of the invited speakers in Parliament square were Jewish as were some of the people on the march (read the BBC reports on the site) this hardly smacks of anti-Semitic, if anything the site and certainly the marchers and all of the the speakers were anti-Bush and Blair and considering that this site managed to get a lot of people together in a short time from all religions, nationalities and factions for a peacefull protest dosnt quite give cred to your post Officer Dibble, but of course you are entitled to your views!shocked!

Didn't you once call me an anti-Semite?
I'm attending an Orthodox Jewish wedding on Sunday, with attendees flying in from Jerusalem (it's my cousin's). Just working on a T-shirt design in Hebrew/Arabic that I'll wear to the event. Something like: "Remember Lebanon's Dead Children" should set the right tone.

Yes, the right tone for family bust up and ruined wedding. There's a time and place for foolish political posturing.

Dibble, your general response on this topic is typical of the Zionists who accuse anyone who expresses concern about some policies of the Israeli government of being anti-semitic.

You think there haven't been any ruined weddings in Lebanon lately?

There's plenty of anti-Semitism in Europe, the US and Arab states. Always has been. You need to understand that Israel will always play the "anti-Semite" card in its defence. Opposing Israel is NOT anti-Semitic. In fact, Israel's leaders have deliberately tried to instigate anti-Semitism in Europe, so that European Jews get scared and move to Israel.

Typical inaccurate bollocks from Muslim-hating Liddle.

"You think there haven't been any ruined weddings in Lebanon lately?"
No doubt there have been ruined weddings. It's regrettable. I'd like to see them all stop this foolishness. Apart from the few intransigent, loony, agitators amongst both the Islamists and the Zionists there's no reason to ruck. The ordinary Israelis, Lebanese, and Palestinians would benefit greatly (in terms of trade, economic development, etc) by not letting religion get in the way and simply getting on with each other and getting on with living their lives. In a part of the world where borders change every decade or so it doesn?t really matter who controls which sliver of land (though it does to the agitators). What matters is that those who do control it can provide stable, democrat, government and a civil society that encourages integration and provides economic opportunity for all the communities within it's sphere.
