I saw the piece on the BBC Six o'Clock News and my wife was very much against what the parents were doing.
I disagree. It's called freedom. Too many freedoms are being removed by the nanny state.
Of course a constant diet of fat, fast foods, sweets, sugary drinks etc. is bad for kids (and adults).
Ignoring facts is their choice and they have the right to make it (and their parent's for them). There's plenty of information available regarding the consequences.
The rest of us also have the freedom and the right to elect governments to make rules about the self induced obese and people with illnesses brought on by bad diets and habits such as smoking, illegal drugs and excess use of alcohol having to pay more and wait longer for treatment when their ill chosen freedom catches up with them - but, strangely, the same nanny state then gets all PC about them and talks about discrimination.
Funny old world

You must take into account that these so called parents, do not know what good food is. They are the sort of people who think cooking means sending out for a take away, and freash fruit and veg must be avoided at all costs, as their little angles would throw a paddy.

I agree that people need educating aboyut food. However I am heartily sick of this nanny state. You live ..you die..in between try and be happy..albeit you will often not be.Look at this government trying to legislate every problem away..pure bollocks.I read today that people will be fined for leaving two bin liners out on the wrong day.No they wont. The same way that people dont get caught for benefit fraud, dealing in stolen motors, dealing heroine, etc etc..This country is just too big there are too many things for the authorities to be thinking about. If people want to eat chips let 'em!

Lets not forget thought, that these stupid people have rights.
The right how to spend their hard earned dole money being one of them.
And as IAATP says, they have the right to free health care later in life, when they're obese and claiming all the benefits that being 'disabled' wiil afford them.
And no doubt, these poor little cherubs will have ADHD as well.
Perhaps though we shoud be encouraging the mothers feed them up as much as possible. There may then be a chance that the kids die before they have the chance to breed.

a big misconception about the nhs is that its free, if you earn a wage you pay national insurance and income tax in which the nhs has benefited massively over the years.don't forget its not the governments money its ours.
