Yeah, just read that in the local Metro. He also was locked inside a giant freezer with a car, to see which 'gave up' first because of the cold. It didn't tell me who won -which I'm pissed about- but I guess the human body did, due to RH being alive & all.

He sounds in a pretty bad way. I hope he isn't crippled for the sake of his kids. His star has really been on the rise since he was a humble radio reporter at Radio Cumbria.
I wonder if we will see another episode of Top Gear?

It was an incredibly stupid and vain thing to do, but I hope he pulls through. Don't fancy an avalanche of celeb petrol-head bullshit in the media, though Clarkson has already started it seems.

Richard Hammond always had a reputation of a risk taker. Lets face it he has been submerged in a car, frozen in a freezer and countless other risky things on Top Gear and Brainiac.
Top Gear has been totally obessessed with speed the last few series. Why someone who isn't a trained racing driver was driving a car that could go from 0 to 270mph in 6 seconds is beyond me. And should someone with two young children really be taking these risks is another question.
That said, he seems a really great guy and lets hope he comes through.
